You might also want to add a time element, for example,

‘My leg heals in half the time it would normally take.’

Direct suggestions for future behaviour should also be phrased in the present tense, for example:

‘I always feel comfortable in company…’

‘Day by day I feel more enthusiastic about…’

Be positive

Try to avoid using negative words (i.e. ‘I don’t…’ or ‘I won’t…’) in your suggestions. Don’t mention what you are trying to change or avoid feeling. Create a positive mental picture of what you want to do, as if it has already happened, in order to move towards your goal. For example:

‘I am more confident.’ rather than ‘I never feel self-conscious.’

‘I am a good public speaker.’ instead of ‘I won’t feel nervous when I speak in public.’
